A risk assessment must be carried out by all employers or self-employed workers, and must also be recorded by any business employing five or more people. It identifies potential risks and hazards which, in your work, could cause harm to people, and therefore highlights any precautionary measures needed to minimise those risks.
A method statement is produced to outline exactly how a job will be carried out in a safe and secure manner, without risks to health. This will take into account the risks identified in the risk assessment and what is needed to control those risks. It describes in a logical sequence exactly how a job is to be carried out in a safe manner and without risks to health. It includes all the risks identified in the risk assessment and the measures needed to control those risks. This allows the job to be properly planned and resourced.
We can help with your risk assessment and also in compiling the RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement) which help ensure that a job is carried out safely and efficiently, preventing potential problems and more serious incidents, before they arise. Click here to contact us for more information.
